the lip edit

I feel like everyone has an individual feature (or two if you’re genetically blessed) that they love about themselves. The name of this ‘edit’ might reveal what my favorite feature is, but when I was younger I didn’t like my lips at all. I thought my lips were “too full” and “pouty” for a boy to have (toxic, I know). As I’ve come to accept myself in more ways than one, I not only learned to love my lips, but how to accentuate them too. The pout-worthy products in this guide are everything I use to level up my lips.

If you walk away from this list remembering only one thing, let it be this: No amount of chapstick will keep your lips as hydrated as an overnight lip mask will. This Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask changed the game for me—every morning I wake up to find that my lips are super soft and hydrated.

Lip oils are my favorite all-in-one lip product because you get the nourishment of a lip balm and the finish of a lip gloss. Kosas’ Wet Lip Oil has ultra-hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, avocado oil and konjac root. This plumping lip treatment comes in a variety of shades, but I always go for their “Jellyfish” translucent color.

Balm Dotcom is my tried and true lip balm. I’ve tried just about every flavor, from cookie butter, to wild fig, and everything in between. I love collecting them because it’s fun to match a flavor with a vibe you’re feeling or a place you’re going to—for example, I use the coconut flavor when I’m in warm-weather locales like Mexico or Palm Springs. I recommend purchasing the trio so you can try multiple flavors at a better value.

For the occasions that I want to add a little extra volume to my lips, I’ve found Buxom’s Plump Shot Collagen-Infused Lip Serum to be the perfect secret weapon. This vegan product is super tingly with its tri-peptides, collagen, and hyaluronic acid filling spheres. I swipe on just a bit of this with my Balm Dotcom to lessen the intensity because this product will work immediately to visibly plump your pout.

Whenever I put on a face mask at home, I like to throw on a KNC Beauty lip mask as well for maximum self-care vibes. If you experience chapped lips, I would recommend using their Lip Scrub to exfoliate before masking up.

You haven’t had fun until you’ve experienced glossing your lips. I love putting this on while I’m out with my friends, catching someone’s eye in the process. Glossier’s Lip Gloss leaves a glassy, long-lasting shine that works well with just about any lip balm underneath.
